I'm thinking about asking the vet to put my 3-year-old cat, Spencer, on Prozac (or a similar anti-anxiety med). Spencer has always been really high-strung. He doesn't like people, he runs away from everyone but me. Even my room mate, whom we've lived with for 2 years.
I've tried Rescue Remedy in various forms and it does nothing for him.
Anyway, his latest thing is to poop in the middle of the living room floor whenever I leave on a trip. Understandably, my room mate finds this more than slightly annoying and I travel quite a bit, so it's becoming an issue. Also, I feel so bad for him. Obviously he's either stressed out or pissed off...or both.
Does anyone have any experience with giving their cats anti-anxiety drugs? Any suggestions? Thanks!

A feral kitty we rescued that had spent 4 years living here and never being seen now lets us pet him and even meows to get our attention to pet him. Its been almost two years since we used the feliway for the first time. You might want to try it first.

It works great for my other 2 cats, but it doesn't seem to affect Spencer at all. x(
