| well, isn't this interesting- "rescuer" who sold daughter dangerous dog |
|
seems to have a nice little scam going. she is taking pets advertised on craigslist, and then selling them. including advertising them on craigslist!!
how tidy.

Hope your daughter is okay after the trauma. I had Staffordshire Terriers back in the 70's and purebred pit bull doesn't weigh 100 lbs. She must have gotten a vicious mix. And that 'rescuer' needs some serious legal attention to stop her scam.

| 4. Sadly, this happens more often than you would think |

People are sometimes too trusting. Most groups on Petfinder.com are legit and ethical since Petfinder does some screening on them. With craigslist, you are totally on your own.
Are you putting an alert msg on craigslist or reporting this to them ? It may not be illegal since pets are property in most state's legal systems.
Are rescues licensed or otherwise regulated in your state ? Most states don't regulate them yet. Many rescue groups don't like the idea of regulation, but IMHO it can help to protect the animals even though it can also restrict some good rescue group's operations.

| 5. i did send a message to craigslist. someone had already done so |
|
it appears, because a couple listings had been flagged and removed.
the attorney general said that unless she was incorporated as a business, they would not pursue them. gotta do some more digging.
