Has anyone here used Sulfodene or similar products on cats?
Edited on Sun Aug-31-08 11:58 AM by slackmaster
My big orange furmonster has some chronic "hot spots" that seem to be simple skin allergies. They're not as bad when I control fleas aggressively, but never go away completely.

A friend who is a lifelong dog owner suggested I try Sulfodene, which contains 2-mercaptobenzothiazole. The manufacturer's FAQ says the product is labelled only for dogs, but I found a couple of similar products that are labelled for dogs, cats, and horses.

It looks like the only real risk is that some animals (and humans) are allergic to the active ingredient.

Fellow felophiles, have you any experience with this product, or any other suggestions for dealing with chronic itching in cats?

Here's the guy, taken at a time when he wasn't quite so itchy. He's just shy of 11 years old now.
