| Old subject, but troubling. |
|
I'm sure this is old hat to many, but I'm going to bring up Febreze again.
The ASPCA and all the spots on the internet that discuss urban myths list the rumor that this product kills animals as false.
Why do people, usually anonymous, keep posting that their friend's brother's barber's landlady's cat died when they used it.
We are all so susceptible to worrying about hurting our animals, that we are easy prey to rumor. I guess the idea is Why Risk it?
Surely, here on DU we can avoid unsubstantiated postings. Anyone have anything about the subject?
Again. I'm sorry if this is silly, but I have this smelly couch and a houseful of cats I love.

| 1. Snopes says the rumor is false. |
|
http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/febreze.aspThe reason people believe this kind of shit is because they are too lazy to do any independent research and instead believe whatever crap turns up in some anonymous forwarded e-mail.

| 3. Yep. Some of us are lazy, but |

others (me) are too thorough and too gullible when it comes to our pets.
I know better, but all those (usually anonymous) postings about dead kitties and puppies are worrisome. Of course I know better. Of course, I'm smarter than that. But this is how those things work. They nag at the back of your mind.
I've been to Snopes and the ASPCA and a couple of other sites that point out how this is mythic. But my antiestablishment nature makes me susceptible to cynicism about corporate cover-up. Makes you want to just not take any chances.
I guess what I was hoping for was a few posts by DUers who use the product. But I guess the conspiracy goons can get here too.

| 2. I've used it on my couch and my dogs are fine. |

They are couch potatoes so if there was anything toxic in it, they wouldn't be fine.
