Just a dog story for fun.
We stayed at a B&B over the weekend that has a sheltie. They are herding dogs and everyone on the property becomes this dog's responsibility--or so he thinks. He is right there to greet each guest as they arrive, and when a guest decides to walk out the front gate, this sheltie barks and barks, as if to say, "get back here! I need to protect you!". He's worn a beaten path all along inside the iron fencing that surrounds the corner lot the B&B is situated on. He could follow us, because the fence is open on the ends, but he doesn't. He knows his station and sticks to it.
When we are all seated at breakfast, Sheltie is let in and immediately circles around and around our table of nine guests plus the proprietor, just as though we are a herd of sheep who need to be kept in line. Round and round and round--then he is satisfied that all things are under control. Sure is good to know that Sheltie is "on the job", protecting us from nasty marauding wolves, LOL!
