| Sneezy kitty - any ideas? |
|
Socrates has been sneezing on and off for a couple of days now, and although I'm calling the vet today, I'm wondering what it might be. The other cats aren't sneezing at all. Socrates is eating well, playing as usual, and his temperature is normal. He just has 3 or 4 of those sneezing fits a day, usually when he's grooming himself (allergic to cat fur...? Nah. Can't be.)
Any suggestions, other than (of course) taking him to the vet?

Cats react to things in the air, etc. just like people do. It is the prudent thing to do to take him to the vet, who can probably give him something to help with the sneezing.
The other possibility, of course, is a URI (upper respiratory infection) that might be at its beginning stage.
With either situation, it is a very good sign that Socrates continues to eat and play normally. You might also ask your vet about the advisability of using l-lysine.
The very best of luck to you and to Socrates, and thanks so much for caring for him and the others!

I have truckloads of this stuff somewhere. The vet said to watch him and bring him in if he doesn't get better in a few days, but it might just be that he gets tingly nose from the fluffy blanket I washed with a lavender eco-safe soap.
Thanks for the advice! :hi:

She has a year-round something or other, has had it from birth. Seems a little worse in cold weather. She makes noise when she sniffs something--sniffa, sniffa, sniffa, like a dog. The previous owner said that the vet had something that would clear it up, but she'd have to be on it permanently and they thought it was too expensive. Maybe I'll ask next time we go to the vet.
