Podiatrist or Lobotomist
Our Border Collie, Little, loves her "babies" - fluffy dog toys with squeakers in them. She has a number of them, some over five years old and still squeaking. As she is the alpha, she protects them and won't allow the GSD, Big, to play with them.

Big is a chewer. Not destructively, but sticks and her toys are fair game. We bought her a rubber chicken squeak toy. Since Little only likes soft toys, she was uninterested.

Big squeaked it for a day or three and then we didn't hear it.

But we saw little red plastic bits on the floor. The chicken no longer squeaked because Big caused it to no longer be sufficiently air tight to squeak its squeaker.

We saw this:

Poor chicken.

Big was okay with this, but we now are confused. Is she a podiatrist or a lobotomist?

1. She nibbled off the parts that stick out.
She's trying to turn that chicken into a ball.

3. My "Big" also is only interested in his toys as long as they squeak.
Once he has killed the squeaker...there is no more interest.

I have managed to find a few toys that have replaceable squeakers. The noisemaker is in a little velcro pocket, and when
it has been punctured and no longer makes noise, I replace it. This has worked.
