They don't need to learn, they do it on their own. He will go find a patch of snow to roll on. Looks completely normal to me.

Big (our GSD) loves to run in it and dive into it. She loves to toss it with her nose. She loves to roll in it.
Little (our Border Collie) loves to simply lay in it the way other dogs lay in the sun.
I can imagine both of them sliding like that.
