My Dachshund is having trouble walking
|
A few days ago we noticed his back left leg wasn't working right so we rushed him to the Emergency vet where he had x-rays which revealed a problem with his back. He's on bed rest and meds but it's looking like surgery.

7. My dachshund is doing well now.

He is supposed to be on 6-8 weeks of bed rest, hah! I am going to need a sedative to get through the rest of this time. TrogL says he isn't an active dog, he is not with him all day during the week. Would be nice to got to the washroom, shower etc with out a full blown wining session or barking. I am exhausted!

8. Doxie's tend toward back problems. Try to ensure he is not overweight.

A little on the thin side is better...

9. We had to get surgery for our doxie.

It was about $6k, but the doc did a beautiful job and fixed the other vertbrae so it wouldn't happen again. We carry her up and down the stairs even though she can do it herself, but we don't take chances. Aren't they the best dogs???
