| Got Our New Puppy Yesterday |
|
We got a new yellow lab to speed the recovery process over Barney dying. His name is Walter. We call him Walt after Walt Kowalski in Gran Torino. (We love that movie. So much so, that it was my wife's idea!))
He is the CALMEST puppy i've ever seen. HE SLEPT THROUGH THE WHOLE NIGHT LAST NIGHT!
I haven't heard him bark yet, except for a little pip while he was dreaming.
The cats are already in love.
Should be fun. GAC

| 1. does he still have puppy breath? |
|
love that puppy breath. the next dog here will be DH's choice. he wants an english bull, mostly because i don't, but... it will be a pup, tho. boxer dog needs some time to get used to another bully in the family.
good luck with the new baby. i usually start over again quickly.

I let my pix drop account lapse. But, i think my ISP allows it. So, i'll do that and come back and post.
We made the mistake with our last beastie of not taking enough early pictures. Then, the next thing we know he was 50# and growing.
So, we're taking daily or every other day for a while. Then we'll have a record of when the monster was little. GAC

| 5. Don't know about puppies... |
|
...but with kittens if you turn around really quickly, you can catch them in the act of growing.
:wow:
I'm only half-joking...you could swear they're just a tad bigger than they were when you looked at them five minutes ago...

We got our doggie that just passed at 11 weeks. That was labor day weekend. We have ONE picture of him with a little newspaper squeeze toy and it looks big.
We have a picture when the living room was decorated for Christmas. 3 monhts later. He easily weighs 50# in that picture.
Talk about growing per minute! GAC

| 8. Wel, Let Me Take That Back! |
|
My wife said sometime around 11am yesterday, Walt got used to his new surroundings. Because he's not potty trained yet, he has to be in a large kennel when we're not right there with him.
Well, he ain't havin' the kennel anymore. First night, he went right in and stayed quiet and happy the whole night. I'm sleeping on the couch right by the kennel until he gets a little bigger, and last night i had to let him sleep on the couch. Now, he's plenty little enough, so no big deal. But, this morning when i put him back in there to go to work, UNHAPPINESS abounded.
He's a lab, all right. GAC

My husband couldn't stand it, and the puppy wasn't thrilled either. Fast-forward a year and it's amazing how much space a 30 lb dog can take up in bed, LOL, but we are spoilers, she can sleep about anywhwere she wants.
Congrats on your new family member. I can't wait to see puppy pics.

go through what I have with my 3 month old Lab pup. The upside to my situation is we have an older Lab to help keep him busy and in line. Congrats. Ha,ha...I don't think he appreciates my guitar playing yet.

Only acoustic at this point. I'l give him a while before i crank up the Boogie. He acted like it didn't phase him at all.
I might wait until he's 3 or 4 months old. He was born on June 8. So, he's still a baby.

|
I just lost my beloved Boo last week, and I can't wait for the next one. I HATE this dog-less house. I don't know how the hell to function without a dog.
Good for you that you're filling that hole in your heart with a new fur-baby to love, and may you have many many happy years with Walt to love and love you.

|
My son's was a little thing when they got him at 6 weeks. He weighed about 11 lbs. Then he grew, and grew and grew and got to be over 100 lbs.
We're babysitting him now. OUr cats are not amused but at least he doesn't chase them.
