If a song is stuck in your head ... |
|
I don't know if this works reliably. I'm still experimenting. I have a lot of trouble remembering dreams. And when I do remember, they make no sense. Sometimes there just are no words for what was going on.
One morning shortly after I woke up, a song was stuck in my head. I looked up and listened to the lyrics, and suddenly my dream was vivid. It had triggered the memory.
I still have songs stuck many mornings. I just haven't been able to duplicate the experience with the same astounding results. Anyone else ever find this to work?

1. Well, not with songs but other things |
|
that trigger memory of a dream, like a sentence spoken in waking life, but especially being mindful during the day or during meditation that brings about the total recall.
When I have trouble remembering dreams or can't remember when last I dreamed, I give myself the suggestion before sleeping that I Will Remember My Dreams. It also works for me as an alarm clock, setting the time mentally I want to wake up.
I've also heard that keeping a pen and pad handy or at your nightstand helps with recall. And getting enough REM sleep helps too.
Dreams are so helpful but when they don't make sense, I always rely on how I felt - what emotions were at play - this helps with recall because then I can start placing what I felt when during the dream and the scenes become a little more clear.
I hope these help, Why Syzygy :)

2. I agree with Kind of Blue ... |

... I have to nudge myself that "I will remember if/what I dream tonight" and will repeat whatever details I can remember outloud while I'm showering/getting ready for work so they become more 'tangible' ... that usually helps me piece together the fuzzier parts as the morning goes on.
Oddly, for me, the song I usually wake up hearing is whatever song was playing in my car when I got home from work the prior evening. It's the wierdest thing - I'll go through my morning ritual and get in my car to head to work, turn on my cd player and it will pick up exactly where it was in my head, as if my 'music memory' was on pause since the night before.
