I really think that psychologists and psychiatrists don't usually accept this stuff because there are so many lay practitioners.....so they look down on it, plus it is competition.
On the other hand, a lot of them accept EMDR, and training for that is only for professionals of one sort or another.
Interestingly, I don't remember Donna Eden's book specifically covering tapping.
Although I love the idea of tapping, and know it is highly effective for a lot of people, I find self tapping a bit annoying. But for many years I had people do all the points down the spine....ala NAET, and liked that a lot better. Once I realized it could be done by distance, just by THINKING about the spinal points being tapped, well, off and running.
