Yesterday was a rough day for a bunch of people here and elsewhere.
A couple of times, I burst into tears being overwhelmed at the... well, everything: injustice, pain, political shenanigans. While overwhelmed and helpless used to be common themes in my life, this is now actually rare for me.
This morning I'm keeping in mind that it gets better. I'm willing to use the theme from the GLBT campaign for teens because... it's true. It gets better.
Sometimes it's a slog just to get through the day, but it will get better. Look for the joy in each day. Find the things you are thankful for and be thankful for all the rest because they can be catalyst for your growth.
It will get better.
Much love to you all, BB

2. On this frigid morning, my joy is in a cozy home, a few cups of |

Barry's Irish tea, a day off from work, 3 fuzzy cats and one fuzzy dog and the warmth of the sun shining through the windows.

3. Certainly some of the greatest joys in my life |
|
are my grandchildren.
Yesterday, the eldest of the seven of them stopped by to visit for awhile. He'll soon be 16 and is tall and handsome and one of the best human beings I've ever met. He loves to explore the world and go on adventures with me, can cook anything, can care for his 5 mo old baby brother during his days off of school, gets top honors in school and on top of that, he's a really decent person.
Justen, I love you.

Doing nothing today but editing my novel. Strangely enough, it's not getting any shorter although it needs to  but I am taking joy in the fact that this creation has come to fruition, and relatively easily. Enjoying the flow. :hi:

10. ... for some odd reason ... |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-14-10 03:21 PM by Myrina
.... my joy "just is" lately. Can't explain it. There seems to be 'enough' money to cover the bills; there seems to be 'enough' time to do the errands I need to do, to walk my dogs, and spend time dicking around on the intertubes; there is 'enough' security and recognition at my present job that I'm not worried about being downsized, and there seems to be 'enough' forward motion with my other side project that I feel like I'm making tangible progress.
I'm enjoying being at my office today, in jeans and a sweater, listening to Blue Merle, with a smile on my face. Its just a good day.
And considering where I was 2 years ago (miserable, in a job I hated, over a barrel financially and nearly suicidal) it feels like an entirely different world. But the only thing that's really changed (aside from me choosing to leave that job without a parachute and hope for something better) is how I approach it -- thanks to my therapist and alot of reading & self-correcting.
O8) I am grateful for today and everyone in it.

I'm having to do my job and my coworker's. De Ja f*cking Vu. She was drunk coming out of a bar last year on Christmas when she tripped and broke the hell out of her leg. I ended up doing my job and her job for 4 months and it completely burned me out and made me nuts (along with peri-menopause and actually being nuts). Anyway, she's been out for 4 days getting surgery on her leg and I've had one hell of a time doing her job and mine again. OMG, it's been an absolute nightmare because this is our busiest time of year and her people are very demanding. Everyone's requests are "Urgent". I've been so angry with her - she's a right wing asshole, but she's also basically a good person. Then I found out that she has an infection that could likely kill her or cause her to lose her leg if left untreated. Let me tell you, that changed my perspective real quick. I feel bad for being angry at her. I don't want her to be sick or worse. That's just one little thing as of late. Overall ,this year has literally been the most unfarkingbelievable year of my entire life, and I am not the only one who can say this by a longshot.

to have someone that you need to be able to count on not be there when you need them. And over an extended period... that can bring one to the brink.

I have had those days and maybe what is most needed is to just turn it all off - the tv, radio, bad news sources. These problems will all be there when you come back. Be kind to yourself. Do for you what you would do for one of us or a friend in the throes. Make yourself some tea, comfort yourself, read a fun book, visit some place that gives you peace.
I was pretty much dreading this week and so far (knock on wood) I am having a better than usual time of it. As of this moment, I have hope in my future for possible changes coming up in January (if they don't, look for my version of this thread), my family is happy and doing what they need to do.. money is forever tight but I guess I am just getting used to that.
Hugs to you and hoping that tomorrow opens up possibilities you hadn't considered yet.

22. I learned something yesterday |
|
about part of the reason I was having a difficult day on Monday.
I went to see Ruby for a bit yesterday (Tuesday).
She had a not so good day on Monday. She kept telling the doctors that she normally takes a diuretic and they ignored that. She ended up retaining fluid to the point that her sodium levels went way off. They had to treat her to get it back to the right place.
She is concerned that she may not be able to do psychic work anymore. She just doesn't know. And she is still having problems with her equilibrium. But generally, each day is better and she's a bit stronger.
Ruby and I share March 16th as a birth day, although two years apart. We are really close and have had many lifetimes together. What one is feeling the other feels too.

that is my son's birthday as well. Though he's having some high points this week, he's having a hell of a time getting his papers and projects done for school before he comes home.
so sorry to hear about your friend... is a naturapath out of order to suggest?

21. My joy today is that it's another "snow day" & I don't have to go |
|
to work. Yippeee! Been out all week.:woohoo:
2)My husband is lucky enough to be retired & doing things around the house that needed tending.:loveya:
3)My son just started a new job in his major that he loves, after a year of working fast food again. He had to move to another city, but is reconnecting w/a friend he hasn't gotten to spend much time w/for the last 4 yrs, & likes the new town.:applause:
4) My daughter is doing well in college & getting ready to begin her last semester in January. She just broke up w/boyfriend of 3.5 yrs, but isn't too upset about it....instead is focusing on her final exams. No drama. Thank you, my level-headed Capricorn girl. She just keeps plugging along. :)
All in all, we have it good. I'm focusing on that thought from now on. :bounce:
