I lost my wedding ring yesterday |
|
after wearing it for over 28 years. It was feeling loose lately because my fingers are shrinking a bit.
I can't figure out where I lost it, but my daughter's tire blew out and her spare donut tire was flat so the AAA guy towed it to a tire place that sells used rims. What with taking my gloves off and putting them back on, and then off again, it must have come off somewhere.
To top things off, I also lost a favorite earring, bought for a dollar at a garage sale, but pretty. Third earring I've lost in 3 months.
My husband and I searched the car, the driveway, the carport (where I found an earring that I lost a couple of months ago) and everyplace we could think of in the house. I searched the garbage and a bag of plastic grocery bags I was going to recycle. This morning I went back to the tire place and asked, and searched around, but no luck. I spent some time going up and down the street where the tire blowout happened, kicking little piles of leaves and looking under parked cars. Nothing.
On top of it being my wedding ring, it was made and engraved by the dear woman who initiated me in Wicca, who died last June. Just a plain gold band, not anything expensive, but worth a lot to me.
If anyone has a suggestion, I would gratefully welcome it.

1. This may sound crazy but... |
|
my mother had a thing she did to remember names...She would say the alphabet, slowly, and the name would always come to her just before she got to that letter in the alphabet. I'm pretty it can be used to find lost items too. I think there may be a flash of "where it is" somewhere in the process of going thru the letters...like seeing a picture of the place...can't hurt to try it?

4. Rent a metal detector? |
|
If you think you may have lost it outside where your daughter had a blowout, it might be worth renting a metal detector to do the searching for you. Equipment rental shops might have one.
Good luck. I lost my wedding ring once. I was convinced that it had slipped off my finger when I was throwing away something in a campus garbage can, and that I had lost it forever to the landfill. I found it 2 1/2 years later under the bed.

10. I have to say though, Howler, that mine might be from... |
|
having watched one too many bad TV shows where this happened. I'm not very psychic. I trust your impression though. :D

The reason I ask is I used to have a kitty with a love of shiny things. If something shiny (be it tin foil or jewelry) was dropped accidentally and not immediately recovered, she considered it hers and took it away. She went on to kitty heaven about 4 years ago, but I still occasionally find something she squirreled away. I'm not a sloppy house keeper -- it's just that she had some pretty incredible hiding places.

but they're not usually into bright shiny things. One of my dogs loves anything stuffed with polyfill, unfortunately.
Thanks, it's a good suggestion.

7. Have you worn the gloves since? |
|
I've lost some weight recently, and whenever I wear a certain pair of gloves to stack firewood, my Brigid's Cross ring stays in the finger hole. I don't notice it for a while, freak out, then realize I should check the gloves. Anyway--just a thought.

13. Pray to Saint Anthony |
|
I was advised to do this when my brother lost his dog. I did faithfully for quite a while - months - but no dog.
Until 18 months later when she actually was found and returned! It seemed like a miracle to us.
St. Anthony, St. Anthony, Please look around Something is lost And needs to be found.
Good luck!

19. I'm going to add some info |
|
The ring is engraved with our initials: A.S. & D.T., June 26, 1982
in case that gives anyone an insight.
Thank you all!
