I had the strangest dream, and it was so vivid. |
|
In my dream, someone gave me a cage with four white mice in it. They also gave me a lot of fancy food for the mice.
I don't like mice, and I didn't want them, because I have a cat and a dog. I took the mice because they were a gift, and someone needed to take care of them.
When I went to feed them for the first time, I discovered that my cat, Claudia, pictured below, had gotten into the cage and eaten the mice. I felt helpless and sad.
Why am I dreaming such a silly thing? And why has it stuck with me all day, and into the evening? Does this have something to do with the situation in Madison, with which I am very involved? My daughter is there at the protests, and the outcome will affect her future. She is giving me updates, sometimes twice a day. Is it because I am worried about what will happen to all of us if we don't defeat this governor? That is the big thing I can think of. It occupies my thoughts so greatly.
There are other changes coming in my life. My husband's plant is closing. He will be okay, because it is time for him to retire anyway. But many others will not be okay, and this will blight our area even further.
Also, I am getting ready to embark on a new diet and exercise regime. I gained a lot of weight when my thyroid was destroyed. Now that my medication has been changed and I have stabilized, I think I can lose the weight and get back into shape.
Are any of these things related to it?
White mice! Really!

1. I'm terrible at this sort of thing |
|
but found this on a dream dictionary site:
"To see mice in your dream, indicates that you are spending too much time dwelling on minor problems and insignificant matters.
To see mice feeding or eating in your dream, suggests that someone is trying to bring down your self-confidence. Someone may be nipping away at your resources."
The cat, I think, might be you - ready to take charge and take action?

2. If the situation in Madison is occupying your thoughts, I'd say |
|
that the mice represent the protestors, and the cat is the government (not that she really was Claudia). You fear that "the little people" (interesting that there were four mice, like the four pillars of stability) are going to be destroyed by the "fat cats"/those in power. I think you were sad because you felt like you should have done more--protect the mice (and, in Madison, especially your daughter)--even though you didn't want to.
Do you often take responsibility for things that are out of your control? Do you expend energy on things that you should instead turn over to others or to the Universe? We are all supporting the efforts in Madison, both actively and by sending spiritual boosts, but do you feel like you should be able to "fix" it single-handedly? Perhaps recognizing what you can and cannot do in a situation like this will help you feel less guilty about not being able to fix Madison. In the meantime, good juju to you and your brave daughter.

3. I do try to fix everything, |
|
and I often think things are my fault when they are not.
My spiritual advisor at my United Methodist church and my therapist have both told me to let things go. I can't do everything.
Thanks, everyone, for the input. This dream sounds silly, but it was very haunting.

4. an unwanted and un-useful gift |
|
that requires excessive resources (the fancy food) making the things given to you a burden.
then events beyond your control occur and you feel guilt for something not your fault.
Do you find yourself taking on responsibilities and burdens not your own? Is it hard to say no to requests even when you know you are over extending yourself? REmember a lightworker's job is not to be a martyr or workoneself into ill health! You too are a child of the universe worthy of the same love and care you try to give unstintingly to others. INCLUDE YOURSELF IN THAT GIFT GIVING! Include yourself in that circle of loving kindness. NOW! The amount of resistance you feel indicates how badly you need to permit yourself to accept love and care. Breathe light into tightness, into the habit of selfdenial when you sense it. bit by bit it will wear away. it is a habit of thought and feeling and so takes some time to change. if you fall back into it accept that you are human and need to practice anything before becoming skilled so self-criticims is not needed. take care and know you too are of the light
