Judgment Day < Five Weeks Away; How's It Looking?

According to Harold Camping of Family Radio (www.familyradio.com), Judgment Day will be May 21st, 2011. He's pretty sure he's got the right day and the right year.

Anything special going on astrologically that day? Supposedly the birth of Jesus was so significant that Magi came calling. The end of the world is a pretty significant day, too, don't you think?

These wing nuts always "know" when the "End of The World" (ooooo, scary) is coming to frighten people. Fear is what generates a lot of money. "If I pay all THIS to the Church then I will get to heaven ..." or "Since I have little time left and can't take it with me, I might as well give it ALL ..."

Instead of heeding the message of God, which btw is in almost all religions that love is the way to God, *not* fear. Fearmongering is just another way to manipulate people into giving you money.

I am not a church attending person anymore. Because I was taught as a child what the scriptures say that is hardly ever heeded, I have come to realize that many religious leaders (mostly mega-churches where the minister lives in opulence in direct opposition of his own prophet's example and teachings) they are just part of another institution in existence to keep itself alive and themselves rich while many of their parisioners have nothing, yet are guilt-tripped and terrified into giving what little they have. "Forget the messages of God's Love I am supposed to teach, let's scare the crap outta them and maybe that offering basket will be piled high with more money for my private jet!"

Lying, greedy, disgusting people like Camping is just trying to line his pockets some more, like everyone on his shady radio station who fool people into thinking they are listening to God's message simply because they don the clothes, when underneath the robes are lying, manipulative, greedy, spiritually polluting people who ignore their own scripture.

Phew (pant, pant, pant)! There I got THAT rant out of my system just in time for Holy Week after hanging out with some Muslim friends, sharing the good news of Passover with Jewish friends, living with and loving a Quaker next door, and working with a friend of the Hindu faith. In every single one of them I saw God is LOVE, and NOT fear of any stinkin' Judgement day used to make a buck!

will be rescuing all the people trapped and injured when all those driverless vehicles were left to do what they do without anyone controlling them. After they have all been helped, then we'll have to clear the roads, repairing them as necessary (which will give people jobs) and then we can take title on all those empty vehicles, unless the remaining government has different ideas about that... ;)

There will certainly be a surplus of fuel, but we'll have to tax the remaining rich in order to keep governments solvent, because fewer people driving means less in tax revenue. I just hope the loss of operators at the refineries doesn't cause too much of a problem (same for losing operators at nuke plants...)

That there would be a judgment day coming. A day that higher, more advanced beings looking at all the B.S. we're doing to Mama Earth and each other, would make it known without a shadow of a doubt how wrong we have been thinking and acting, and awakening all of us out of this dangerous slumber once and for all. In fact, I see that day in my mind all the time.

As it stands now, craps comes out on a daily basis showing us how selfish and destructive mankind has been and is being to mankind. When I hear people mock environmentalists, people giving a voice to this planet, I can't believe my ears. Something needs to change and soon. We need some kind of judgment day, a day where we are forced to look at ourselves and our world and decide whether we want to becoming caring souls or live separately from people that do.

Call me crazy, but it seems like something way that has been way overdue to happen.

39. Yes, it's mind boggling how people act these days

I was following a car on the way home from work today. There was a picture of a gun exploding with a dove flying out of the middle of the explosion. Above that read something like, "Blessed are those who believe" with the verse from Matthew it was quoted from. My jaw dropped. This is what they believe. Guns and killing are okay for those on God's side? They also believe it's okay to pollute and destroy this world because they've been guaranteed a spot on the rapture ride and they don't think they'll be around to live in their recreation.

What will it take to stop the madness? I'm glad I'm not alone, gtro.

This book I picked up in an airport...thought it was a political thriller, but it turned out to be written by some Christian-right writer and he kept throwing all this scripture and end times stuff into the plot. But it was interesting, so I kept reading. How did it end? A bunch of people got raptured outta here, and the rest of us were left to deal. What kind of a cheesy ending is that? It didn't seem to me like the people left behind were really in that much trouble, either.
