Has anyone here read "the Shack"...? |
|
I re-read it again this weekend and just find it so powerful... a tear-jerker to say the least, i even found myself in a couple moments actually sobbing out loud.
Don;t know why it is so relevant to me right now, but the way god explains that he/she is really all about relationship and LOVE and the way forgiveness and evil is addressed really gave me more hope than i have had in a long time. I feel like i was 'told' to re-read it, because i picked up more this time than the first.
Just wondering if anyone who may not consider themselves 'christian' would consider reading a book that was mostly seen as a christian novel.

1. Hey FL. I haven't read this but it sounds similar |
|
to "Conversations with God" by Neale Donald Walsh...I'm going to look "The Shack" up. I recently re-watched the Celestine Prophecy and could not believe how powerful it was to me, much more so than the first time I watched it. I love it when that happens!

this one is quite different. especially since it was probably written from a more christian angle.
synopsis: Mack is the main character, he leaves home at 13 due to an alcoholic and abusive father, makes his way in life and eventually find a good job and a good wife, they have 5 kids. the youngest gets abducted & the only thing found is her clothes at this 'shack'... 4 years on, the whole family is still in a fog, the only one with faith left is the wife. Mack receives a mysterious note from 'papa' (his wife's special word for god) to come to the shack and talk...so he finally decides to go, curiosity gets the best of him. He ends up spending the weekend with the trinity... papa is a big black momma, jesus is an armenian-looking carpenter, and spirit is like an oriental woman, but you can't look at her directly...
there's lots more, but it really *is* a good read

3. Sounds like an interesting book. |
|
I'd read that it was one of the most successful self- published books of all time. Interesting that Celestine Prophecy is, too!
