X-post fm. Science forum re: solar explosion of June 7 |
|
jackpot posted this in the Science forum. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=228x79999 The size of the prominence is thought to be at least 75 times the size of Earth. Our Jason Major created a graphic showing the size comparison. Earth is the little teeny tiny blue circle in the top left corner

2. Does anyone know how these affect us humans? |
|
I know that the wave can mess up cell phones, etc... but I bet there's some energetic stuff we will be seeing/feeling as this passes through us as well...
anyone feeling buzzing, energy spikes, aches, etc?

3. Luckily, the flare went the opposite direction. |
|
We probably won't notice it. If it had been directed at the earth, we'd be in trouble. The magnitude is enormous.

That picture is amazing. No buzzing or aches in my small part of the universe, FL, but I did wonder why everyone I talked to yesterday seemed on edge or outright angry. By the end of the day, I was too.

9. FL, I seem to remember reading somewhere about solar events |
|
that will activate a change in our DNA structure, but I can't remember where I read it. Does anyone remember any such thing?

I was wondering yesterday if that's why I was so out of sorts. Just looking at it makes me woozy. It's just too incredible to behold.
