I did something today, I wouldn't have had the nerve even |
|
6 mths ago.. to do...
I signed up for Toastmasters Meetings.
Time to ditch the me that has always been a leader in a shy person's body.
I don't expect it to be easy, but I'm making the effort..
And I'll keep you updated...
Anyone else do something gutsy.
I bet you did!

I am so happy for you. I hope Toastmasters gives you tools and confidence to conquer the world!
I haven't been quite so gutsy over the past week or so, ;-) but I am cheering for YOU!

3. Since renewing my membership in AMORC I have had the opportunity |
|
to come out of my shell. I am a severe introvert. So, this has definitely helped me on so many levels. Last year I was asked to conduct our monthly experiments and be in charge of what I wanted to experiment with. I always try and find one that includes the whole membership. Past Life (Blue Light) Experiment is always a favorite. Or watching the Aura and the effects the members see.
This year I am the "Master" so I'm responsible for every discourse throughout the month. It has been a real Spiritual Growth and learning experience for me.
I'm sure you find the experience to be enlightening. It will come in handy I am certain of that. I'm proud of you for finding the courage to do something about it. It takes a strong Soul to expand our Consciousness and come out of our comfort zone.
Good Luck :applause:

I used to go just about every week. My Toastmaster friends gave me a crash course in chairing management meetings when I was thrown into that situation at work. It will give you more confidence. It is a wonderful organization.

7. I'm surprised that you're shy, kimmers. |
|
You don't seem to be that way here. :)
Toastmasters is a great organization. At one time, we held Toastmasters meetings at my company, and my self-confidence definitely improved.
In reference to doing something gutsy, I can't think of anything that I've done. However, it does feel as though it's time to step outside of the box.

9. Yes, it has been debated that maybe I'm not shy, |
|
hehee, I think maybe I meant to state that I am more self-conscious and less confident than I would like to be....There are many grand things in my heart and my mind that I want to convey, but I sometimes get stuck in the deliverance part, you know?? I'm almost certain that I sometimes come across like a total idiot, due to this kind of nervousness. I mean--the old me!

that makes complete sense. (Not that you come across that way, but rather that being able to deliver what we intend to deliver can be difficult.) Toastmasters should definitely help you. :)
My problem is with accessing what's in my head. I have a very "fuzzy" brain, and I will often be in the middle of a sentence or thought and completely forget what I was saying or thinking. Luckily, the people with whom I work know me really well, so they know that I'm not stupid, but I'm not so sure about other people. :silly: My curse is Neptune on the Ascendant. There are supposed to be some positive things associated with it, but I've not seen them yet. :eyes:
Here's to the "new you"! :fistbump:

12. Oh, I get that, too.. |

Especially if I think the listener disapproves, which makes me mad at myself, cuz I shouldn't care(lately- I don't) and then I freeze up.
SOme of the fuzziness for me, I think, stems from hormones and being a woman of a certain age...HAHA

11. Yes! And I'm so much like you...a leader in a shy person's body. |
|

I usually hang back at work and allow others to make the decisions; today I said "F&*$ it" and spoke up, not caring about the consequences. Part of my thought process for NOT speaking up is my worry that I might end up being wrong because I am unfortunately, a perfectionist. I'm learning to not care so much about being 'wrong' and taking action instead of sitting around worrying and doing nothing! There's so much I've missed out on because I've been immobilized by the constant "what ifs" swirling around in my head. I'm so tired of it.
Good for you - congrats! Here's to both of us having the courage to be the person we really are inside. Baby steps!

14. Gemini with Aquarius moon. I live in my head, ha ha! |
|
And I'm trying so hard to learn to act more on intuition and what I can see right in front of me instead of what I think (or overthink!) :D
But Rick will tell you I have strong Virgo too - so I am in constant battle with myself.

I really am nice although it's always been hard to show it because I was afraid of being vulnerable. Vulnerability is my new favorite word. ;-)

18. Learning to stand up and speak in public is a great skill. |
|
I learned to do it in law school, where you have to stand up and recite legal cases, as seen in "The Paper Chase".
Some people take a Dale Carnegie course.
The main thing to know is that you have to be passionate about what you are speaking about. If you are interested in it, then your audience will be interested too!!
Read the Dale Carnegie classics "How to win friends and influence People" and "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living".
Extremely basic psychological advice, like becoming interested in other people, but important stuff.
Sounds like you will have great fun!!!
