I just talked to one of the managers at my hospital and she told me she submitted 6 positions and any of them could easily convert to part time so I can put in for it. This would mean being eligible for benefits and a bit of a raise in hourly pay. I am asking for the part time so I can give myself time to get back in the swing of things working on the floor, plus I will have lots to learn and do not want to spiral back into the burnout that I had before as well as I wish to continue doing the job I currently work. My challenges will be getting the administration to approve me to work the per diem gig at one rate and the part-time gig at another.

Wish me luck! I really hope I get this-- I would like dental insurance! Plus dh's union health insurance can be lost so easily if he gets an extended layoff.

I am no longer in your area, so I'm sorry we never managed to meet up, but you have my best wishes. I think a nurse's "part time' is really a full time gig, so bless you. (I think there are a lot of jobs here who need to be considered full time even though they are not, officially.) In any case, if I ever end up at your hospital, I'll know I've landed in a good place.
