I have a little accidental broccoli. |
|
I had been throwing kitchen scraps (fresh raw veg scraps from the kitchen at work) into the garden boxes for awhile so the chickens could eat in there and scratch and poop in the boxes, then turn under whatever they wouldn't eat. There's a little accidental broccoli growing in one of them and onions sprouting in another, along with a small patch of parsley.

have no clue what it is, though.
Oh & I have a dog who eats sunflower seeds....how did I find this out, you ask? I had sunflowers coming up all over the yard & couldn't figure out why until I saw her eating the seeds....2+2= :eyes:

If the sprouts look like corn, it's most likely millet. The chickens don't particularly care for the millet in their scratch so they don't eat it and we had millet sprouting everywhere in the paths of the garden and along the fence. I had to get under the roots with a small pitch fork and completely uproot those buggers.
I'm keeping a watch on the sunflower seeds, too. The chickens to love those and I'm hoping they didn't miss many of them.
