| Anybody familiar with woodland plants of the northeast? |
|
I dug some plants from my in-law's property in Western New York. This ground cover was growing on very poor soil (sandy loam) in the shade. It looks like lily of the valley except the leaf is dappled with brown spots. Right now each plant is a single leaf sprouting from a tiny corm.

Trout lily has six-petaled yellow flowers. I saw some blooming today during a nature walk here in Maryland. Yours will probably bloom in a few weeks.

They usually bloom the second year. They are not very easy to transplant, from my experience. http://www.ct-botanical-society.org/galleries/erythroniumamer.html
