I have a compost question...

I have been trying to compost green and dry brown organic material. No paper products. Nothing with grease or dairy products. Eggs shells coffee grounds and tea grounds are in there.

Today I turned it a little to see what was happening underneath. There were little dark wormy-looking critters in it. I didn't add earthworms. There is some drainage at the bottom, but not much. Is this normal, or do I have a biohazard in my backyard?

1. Let the little wormy's "do their thing"......

you'll have some great dirt in a year or two (or so)!

"old as dirt"....THE old saying.....has meaning. 'Dirt' isn't made in a day/week/month/one year. It takes awhile! :-)

2. Compost heaps attract many kinds of little beasties. It sounds like you're putting

all the right things in there so I would say that as long as you don't recognize them as being something dangerous, I would leave them alone and let them do their thing.
