| My zucchini won't make female flowers. Any ideas why? |
|
I have two zucchini plants in a large container in good organic soil. I've been careful not to over or under water (after a spring of Biblical rains that I couldn't control, obviously.)
The plants leaves are a little bit paler than I'm used too, but seem otherwise healthy and are making TONS of male blossoms.
I've caught some squash bugs nosing around the plants but have squished the adults and check diligently for eggs and dispose of them with extreme prejudice too.
So, wise gardeners, any thoughts on why I might be making zucchini-FLOWER-based dinners for the rest of the summer? (I do have several good recipes, fortunately!)

| 1. Oh, and I should mention that it's been about 3+ weeks, so the plants SHOULD be |
|
past the point where they are only making male flowers.

| 3. I actually haven't fertilized them at all. Definitely not Miracle Grow, as I am |
|
growing them organically. Wonder if the organic potting soil had too much natural nitrogen. Any idea how I would counteract that?
