It's eighty degrees in Central Florida. I want to start gardening. Help! Talk me out of it! |
|
It never fails. There is always one huge freeze before April.

1. Oh, go on out there and have some fun |
|
I just got in from raking some leaves out of the narrow irrigation ditch that runs through our place. It's such a beautiful day. Nice and dry, so the leaves that blew in over the winter weren't too wet. A little bit every day should get the job done by this time next week. Then I can start on the flower beds that aren't too bad.
Yeah, we'll get some snows this month and maybe April, too. But it's just so nice to be out there.
Maybe you could just go assess the situation. Make a plan. You need to think things through.

5. I'm not a good person to ask. I've been cleaning up the yard and I've got |
|
some lettuce seed started in trays. I can't wait to get some good black dirt under my fingernails.

some real dirt instead of the sandy stuff for your tomatoes. Makes them taste better. This according to my brother that took home lots of top soil last time he was up. I think he only visited so he could get top soil. He built raised bed for his tomatoes. I would go for it and cover everything if they call for a freeze.

7. You could play around with this software while you wait: |

http://www.herbcompanion.com/garden-planner/food-garden-planner.aspxI got an email from The Herb Companion and they are offering a free 30-day trial on their Herb Garden Planner. But I do agree w/everyone above... go ahead and put out some cold-tolerant stuff and have some sheets and blankets ready for those chilly nights. :)
