| Check out this incredible color changing Hibiscus |
|
The rum runner hibiscus starts out purple in the morning and turns yellow in the afternoon, then does it all over again day after day. http://msucares.com/news/print/sgnews/sg06/sg061005.htmlI'll be hunting these down next spring.

I'm already scouting locales for where to put them. We have a patio south of the house which gets alot of sun. That might be where they end up. My wife likes to plant Hibiscus in the ground so we might have some like that as well. Nurseries might get an arm and a leg for these babies.

I wonder if we can find them up here in the NW? I usually have a few hibiscus in pots here, but I've never seen anything like that. Thanks for posting! :)

Our climate is great for such plants. Hibiscus do quite well down here (south Mississippi) some planted in the ground get ten feet tall. I have made a note in my March 2007 daytimer to check these out at the nurseries. And such plants, (Hibiscus, Crepe Myrtle, Azaleas, Oleander, Bougainvilla and on and on) are part of the fantastic charm of the French Quarter. And there are monster Petunias growing down from the balconies along Bourbon and Royal Streets. I'm not totally successful at planting by I do enjoy getting my hands dirty. I hope you can find these up your way.

Maybe a week or 2 and it will bloom for the 1st time. I'll have to pull up a chair when it does.

I'll never get to grow them in Scotland, though. :(

We lived there in 67-69. My Dad was in the Navy stationed at RAF Edzell. What an incredibly beautiful country. It was so much fun driving my bike around the landscape and finding a couple of Castles. We visited Edinburgh and saw as much of the country as possible. I hope I get the opportunity to return someday. There is an extremely big and loving spot in my heart for Scotland.

Nice to know you like it! I think it's a bit of a hole.
Only kidding. BITs of it are a hole. Arran's nice. :D
And Edinburgh, where I live. I really couldn't live anywhere else, now.
