...you do have to go out every morning early to empty the saucer and it's pretty yucky.
Clean up damp litter around the hostas and thin the mulch layer a bit to help keep the problem smaller.
People swear by that copper tape stuff but it never worked for me.
Beer in a saucer. Empty the slimy mess every morning without fail, rinse the sauce and replenish the beer. As many saucers as you have hostas, or one for two if they're close-planted.
One of my great joys in moving to New Mexico was saying bye-bye to the slugs. I don't miss them AT ALL.

...and put the can in a depression slightly below ground level.
The robins did seem to enjoy the marinated slugs after the daily dump and refill...:toast:
