I'm learning. :) I have some awesome blood-red velvety marigolds I would like to save, and a strawberry plant that sent out huge amounts of berries for it's first year (started it from seed. it was the only sprout that lived.)

This is fun. I can't wait till next year. :bounce:

1. I've never had petunias and marigolds go to seed.

The only thing I've been able to collect this year is cypress vine seeds--I have a million of them. I think I'm going to pass them along to my gardening friends at work and keep some for next year, of course.

2. I purposely picked petunias with a tag that warned against

"unauthorized seed propagation" :evilgrin: that told me they would go to seed. :)

4. Iraqi's are no longer allowed to save their crop seeds

some crap *Co wrote into their laws, they have to use GM seeds. :mad: these farmers had been planting the same seeds for hundreds of years. it's disgusting.

5. You know, this got me to thinking--

I get several catalogs from companies that sell "heirloom seeds"--I wonder what effect this has had on them? There are a few that have really rare seeds, and I would bet that they can't be "legal" under those rules.

I don't understand the logic behind this, other than it being just another way to line Shrub's buddies' bank accounts. Anything to restrict our freedoms and make them more money . . . .

6. not much effect the heirlooms...

If anything it helps their business.. the heirloom movement is there to help preserve older nonGM varieties. Also if you notice in a lot of the catalogs they sell books and little kits to help you save seed.

the seeds that are illegal to save and sow are genetically modified by companies <like Monsanto> and have a patient on them... Amazing you can patient a seed huh...
