| question on Air conditioner condensate water |
|
my A/C puts out almost a gallon of water a day during the heat of summer. I have a copper tube that comes out from the house and it just drips constantly but it's pretty low to the ground
I'm thinking I can put a hose on it and run it over to my garden or apple tree or something
is there gonna be any thing in this fluid I need to keep away from my food plants? I'd sure love to use the water in my desert home....

As long as you don't go to far with the hose and make sure it doesn't get blocked up. Your unit uses gravity to help get rid of the water and you don't want to mess that up. The water is just collected condensation so there should be nothing in it to hurt the flowers. Because of where my AC unit is placed it used to help water a tree. Unfortunately we lost the tree last fall so this year it will be watering flowers.

| 3. Well the tree died because it |
|
was electrocuted. Not because of the water. Sorry about that. Someone hit a pole in the yard and snapped the lines. They got caught in two of our trees. I spent all summer trying to save them but then we got a drought on top of that so they never really had a chance. The tree getting extra water from the AC did last longer than the other one. They were only about 10 years old and they said 20 year old trees with out trauma were dieing last summer.
I figure I should let you know it was not the waters fault.

| 6. What you have is distilled water |
|
You could probably drink it. There is probably bright green algae growing around the condensate pan that would make the aesthetics of drinking it a bit disturbing.

| 7. I am thinking the water is condensation from the air. the only worry I can see is |
|
What is the material that the liquid is condensing on. For example I wouldn't want anything to do with water condensing on aluminum.

| 9. hubby insists I not use it on food, so I'll just run it out to the shade tree |
|
the main reason was to keep the weeds down next to the house and the shade tree will be happier for it

I used it on some potted plants, and they died.
coincidence? I don't know, but I don't want to take the chance again.
