200 bucks worth of mulch and I haven't planted a damn thing yet

but I've got my tomato seeds in their little pods and I'm off to the feed and seed tomorrow to peruse their plants. I'm thinking of planting herb seeds in a strawberry planter and I got a five gallon bucket holed and ready for my wife's Sprite (Grape) tomato plant. Ornamental peppers will end up on the patio. Lordy I love this time of year.

2. I've been searching high and low

for bee balm seeds and have failed so far but I've got about three dollars worth of seed packets for a dime apiece. I bet they are of the highest quality?!? If I don't get too carried away the mulch should be my biggest expense (unless I can find some of those fancy hibiscus.) (And maybe some exotic begonias) (and of course the geraniums)

I was hoping to find it sold locally. One envelope will be more then I need. I'll find a substitute of some sort. Haven't had the greatest luck with seeds on the internet.

We have, too. We even took today off work to get our beds done and plant a few things but it was very cold and the wind was gusting to about 30+ mi/hr.

I actually did 3 cubic yards of organic composted mulch about
3 months ago....mid-Jan. and have been planting like crazy for the
last 6 weeks or so....

God I love Houston weather,(honest!) say what you will, but
warm winters and tropical summers are a gardeners heaven.

My giant elephant ears are about 6 inches tall, the damn squirrels are already
driving me crazy - they snack on my banana trees and my brugmansias
are cranking and the Chas. Grimaldi has about a dozen buds ready to pop any day!

I am in hog heaven!

Not only mulch, but potting soil, seeds, transplants, etc, AND, I'm moving from SC to Va (probably May). Am trying to figure ot how much of the stuff I can take with me!!! I guess you don't have to be crazy to garden, but I'm SURE it helps! Can't wait to get back home--miss those mountains! My niece and I are planning several gardens, veggies, fruit, and flowers-all organic. Thanks to everyone posting here for all the great advice and ideas. Am going to try to grow potatoes in trash cans. Will be doing raised beds and containers, as well as vertical (baaaad back). By the way, does anyone have a source for white sweet potatoes/yams? I believe they're also called Cuban sweet potatoes. Thanks. Happy gardening, everyone!

I did it for a charity raffle, it looked GREAT and went for big bucks....$80 I think!
