A friend told me that she planted corn last year in her little home garden...about 8 stalks. She watched excitedly as the ears developed and then one morning the corn was gone. Not just the ears, the entire stalks. An elderly neighbor came by and asked her if she wanted to see where her corn had gone. He pointed to a very tall maple tree and there about 30 feet up in the branches were the 8 stalks of corn. Amazing little buggers!

I don't know why, but if you hang soap bars on the fence around your garden, it deters the squirrels. I just drilled a hole in the soap bars and hung them on the fences. Don't use Ivory 'cause they don't last as long as say Dial or Zest.
Squirrels are cute and destructive.

I bet you could sell a video of something like that to gardening programs world wide.
Thanks for sharing!

| 5. That's funny. The squirrels always get my sunflowers before the end of the season. |

Maybe I should check the attic for them.
