So I beat Halo 2 today....

I rented it Sunday...

So it was a little easy. Granted I plaed on Normal, but I am going at it again on Legendary.

Anyone else play it? Whatcha think?

I thought the ending was weak. Other than that - absolutely badass.

1. Overall I Liked It.

It was a bit too claustrophobic for me (i like open areas) but other than that it was solid. The ending did suck but I have heard rumors that an expansion pack is on the way. Too bad I traded it in.

2. A great game.

I don't think it will be so easy on Legendary. Good thing is you don't get set back very far.

I play it regularly both single and co-op. My son "invented" a bunch of games so there's no end to the fun.

The ending somehow doesn't seem as weak as it did when I first completed the game. I guess I got used to it. Besides, now there are many more rings to deactivate or destroy next time.

3. As an aside..

What combo of weapons did you folks like using?

I like the SMG and a plasma rifle.

4. Can't Get It Until Late In The Game,...

but I liked the Brute plasma rifle and Elite plasma rifle combo. For on-line play, I liked the plasma rifle/ Magnum combo.

5. Hrrm..

At that point I was pretty much just going twin Brute Plasmas.

Is there any difference between the Brute Plasma and the regular plasma?

6. The Brute Plasma Overheats...

way faster then the Elite but packs a better punch and has unlimited ammo (I think). So what I did was start firing the Brute, wait for a second or two, then light up the Elite. If I timed it right the Brute would overheat and come back just as the Elite overheated.

I also dug the hell out of the the covenant sniper rifle and the covenant carbine.

10. Become skilled with dual magnums.

You can kill ANYTHING, very quickly. Other than the rocket launcher and plasma sword, there is no better combo in the game. Much easier to get this combo online that in the levels, though.

8. I've only been playing it online...

...so I've hardly gotten anywhere in the campaign.

My favorite combo is SMG/plasma pistol, or plasma rifle/magnum, but I like to toss grenades like they were Mardi Gras beads.

EDIT: Also, AFAIK there's not a campaign expansion, but Bungie announced a week or so ago that there will be new multiplayer maps release soon -- 4 in April and 5 on June 28.

You can download all the maps via XBL for $17.98, or you can purchase a disc for $19.99. The disc comes out on June 28, also. Or you can wait until the end of summer and download all the maps via XBL for free.

11. What happens when it's live?

Is it a team firefight or capture the flag-type thing? Team missions?



I've only done split-screen with my son, whose favorite game is a customized Slayer with swords as primary weapon, and magnums and shotguns around, and unlimited plasma grenades.

Makes for some interesting combat.

12. There are a lot of options

There are team games -- team slayer, capture the flag, stuff like that -- as well as solo games like slayer and head to head.

I just play in the Rumble Pit, which is mostly standard slayer games, with an ocassional objective game like King of the Hill or Fiesta Ball.

It's just a whole different experience playing against 7 other real people.
