| Poll question: Face off: Quake Vs. Unreal |
|
I'm sure that most people who've played FPSs have played either Quake or Unreal. Most people who've played online have played Q3A or UT. But which one is better?

Quake is the shiznit. I can't tell you how many hours I spent playing the original Team Fortress :sigh: I was in one of the first TF clans, back in the day--VoV, the Vanguard of Vengeance. :)

I Like it better than Q3A, but I wouldn't say it's better. Certainly Q3A was programmed better, but it's a question of taste in gameplay that determines your addiction.
Now, UT2k3/4...blech.

There was just something unnatural about the way the models moved. They seemed to be a little low on animations and sort-of glided across the floor. Quake also had more of an organic feel to it IMO.

Q3 was great too, but UT was a lot more fun to play. I still play UT with friends over LAN but I really dislike UT2003/4 as it tries to be too Quake-like.

UT2K4 is almost like getting about ten games in one, each of which could easily be a stand-alone title on its own. Onslaught, in particular, is loads of fun.

Forget all those stupid gimmick weapons in Unreal, Quake is where you get the knock-down drag-out fights closeup and in your face

Quake was fun, but I thought UT was more enjoyable overall. I really love the "assault" mode (I think that was what it was called).
