I wanna know if it'll run on my system before I lay down the $50.

and it seems to run okay. I have a PIII 1.2 GHz with 384 MB RAM and a NVIDIA GeoForce Ti 4200 and I have played for about two hours. The problem I had wasn't actually in the game - it was with Steam. The servers were so clogged I had trouble logging on and then I had to update both HL2 and CS:Source. I was installing/updating/registering for three hours and at the end I still hadn't aquired the ability to play offline. There seems to be some arcane way to trick Steam into letting you play offline, but I haven't tried yet.
Great game so far, by the way, even on my system.

2. Runs just fine on my box... |

Athlon XP 2400, 768MB RAM, Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB video card. It even set the "recommended settings" for video to "high" on my machine (but, admittedly, I have a fairly high-end video card). It's awfully pretty, and the character models are the best I've seen in any game (although Far Cry may have it beat as far as environments go).

1 gig ram Radeon 9800 Pro 256 MB
Not surprisingly, it runs flawlessly.
However: I DID install it on my laptop, which is only a 1.7 ghz Pentium 4 with a GeForce FX 5200 Go, and I get decent framerate at 800X600, so take heart. It runs on lower systems very well. Valve did an excellent job making the game as accessible as possible.
And the game...is stunning. Simply stunning. I have NEVER experienced anything like this before. Even playing the original Half-Life, I didn't get the sense of full immersion in the world as I do here. You can pick up almost anything that's not nailed down and throw it. Hell, you can even pick up pieces of glass from the bottle you just threw at the wall.
