| Need suggestions for PS2, N64, or Gamecube platform games. |
|
Games for preteen boys--a sleepover. I'm going shopping in a sec, and these boys are unbelievably bored, since it's rainy outside.
They like stuff like Tony Hawk UG, fighting games, etc. Two-player if possible.
No explicit gore or sex. Thanks for any suggestions!

There's loads of fun multiplayer games for the Cube. I can't help you with the Tony Hawk-ish games 'cause I can't stand that crap, but as far as multiplayer games go, here's what I'd pick up:
-Super Smash Bros. Melee -Mario Party 4 -Super Monkey Ball 2 -Legend of Zelda Four Sword Adventures (though they may need GBAs for that, not sure off the top of my head) -Soul Calibur 2 (excellent fighting game, you can get it for the PS2 or Cube, I have the Cube one because it has Link from Zelda in it and the graphics look slightly better) -Gauntlet: Dark Legacy (this is also available for the PS2 but since you can have up to 4 players I would get the Cube one)
For the PS2:
-Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution -Street Fighter Anniversary -Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (very fun 2 player D&D-based adventure game, there is also a sequel out...just be sure to pick up Dark Alliance and not the PC Baldur's Gate, as they are two very different animals) -Pirates: Legend of Black Kat (a mediocre pirate game with a VERY addictive 2-player naval battle mode that is worth the cheap price of the game)
The bonus is that with the exception of Zelda Four Swords, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 and SF Anniversary most of these games have been out for ages and can be had for a song. This is pretty much all I can think of off the top of my head since I have these games and I just woke up. :)) If you've got kids and a Gamecube I would highly suggest picking up a few extra controllers. One of the best moves Nintendo ever did was putting four controller ports right on the console instead of making people buy an expensive multitap adapter. Since I'm the "kid-friendly" person in my house, whenever younger relatives come over it usually falls to me to entertain them (read: keep them out of trouble :P) and all I need to do is pull out my Cube and a bunch of controllers. Works like a charm and no one fights over who gets to play next (unless there's more than 4 kids...lol).

"Skies of Arcadia" is probably one of the best RPGs I've ever played. "Timesplitters 2" is a great 4 person FPS, immensely fun tons of stuff to unlock. "Soul Calibur 2" is the best fighting game ever.
