| Has anyone played "We Love Katamari?" |
|
OK, OK, I know I'm leaving myself open to flaming based on the games usually mentioned in this forum, but I confess to liking goofy games that don't require a major investment of my time and energy.
I gave my kids Katamari for x-mas, and have ended up spending too much time playing it myself. For those not familiar with it, it's a typically odd Japanese game with great music (sounds like Plastic Fantastic Machine, Pizzacato Five, Shonen Knife) and very creative and humorous graphics. The object is to roll "stuff" up into a bigger and bigger ball as fast as possible. "Stuff" starts with small things like paper clips, as you get bigger, you can pick up larger things like animals and people, and eventually famous structures like the Eiffel Tower.
Question: When I play this game, my kids are very amused by the fact that I "steer" with the controller like I'm driving a car. Is this because I'm old, because I was driving a car long before I played a video game or because I'm hopelessly lame? (Or all of the above? :P ) Honestly, I catch myself leaning out of my chair! (And after playing this game, I'm rolling through my dreams.)

| 1. Ive been fascinated with this game since I first heard of it. It seems |
|
so simple, silly even, but it is reported to be completely addicting. When will they port it to PC?

| 2. By its nature, it requires a pair of analog joysticks. |

| 3. I've wondered if it could transfer to PC.... |
|
I couldn't imagine how, but I'm not exactly an expert in these matters.
I suppose a joystick could be used, but I think the game would have to be changed in some ways.
It IS totally silly and completely addicting. It's also very funny, although I think a lot of gamers would consider it entirely too weird.

I just got We Love Katamari two days ago and I'm hooked. This is the most original game to appear in the past four or five years!
I'm toying with the idea of send NAMCO a letter (they have no email address listed) to let them know that a PC version with a map editor and the ability to import object would probably cause general elation (I almost said fellation) among their fans.
I want MORE Katamari! I want to see MORE DETAILED Katamari! I want a FASTER Katamari!
Oh, and... the King.
Seriously.
The King rocks!
:lmao:
I noticed one other thing. When you go into the collection screen, where it shows you what you've picked up, those descriptions are some seriously wacky stuff. "Apartment: Steve on the first floor and John on the third floor have recently been unusually friendly with each other." LOLOL!!

| 5. Yes, it is. I haven't played the first one, so, I don't know.... |
|
if the new one differs much.
I'm quite addicted to Katamari at the moment.
Currently, my favorite part is rolling a huge Katamari through the zoo or city and having a teeny-tiny army come out and shoot at me. Now, I know how Godzilla would feel!
