Does anyone else have a Wii yet?
I just got one on launch day, and I must say it has to be the funnest system I have ever played.

I wasn't expecting that much from Wii Sports as I generally do not care for sports games, but it has turned out to be just amazing. Being able to swing the controller like a real tennis racket really makes the game an experience that just about anyone could enjoy whether they have been playing games for years or are just picking up a controller for the first time.

And Zelda may just be the single best game I have ever played, it is incredibly deep and the new control scheme makes it even more immersive.

Once more people figure out just how much fun this system is I think it is going to be huge, it may not have the graphical capabilities of the other two systems but it is so much fun I think you are going to see a lot of people who have never played games before want to pick this one up.

1. I got one on launch day, and I have to agree.
This is an amazingly fun system. Wii sports got me to enjoy playing golf, and I hate golf.
Madden '07 is getting great reviews for the Wii, which makes me think about getting that game, too. I'm not a big fan of console football games, either.
But the reviews I've read say it's a totally new experience on the Wii, and that this is the direction games should be going. Not new graphics, but new
ways to play them.

Zelda is so much fun. I just need a bigger television and component cables so I can play it in a higher resolution.

***Spoilers for Zelda in white text. Highlight to reveal***
And I'm in the Water Temple in Zelda. I want to quit the game so often in this temple. I couldn't stand the water temple in Ocarina of Time.
***End Spoiler Text***

2. My buddies got TWO on release day. And I love Wii Sports
only complaint is boxing, it doesn't feel very responsive.

And the baseball logic seems a bit simplistic (no double plays, for example).

But who cares. Five free games.

Baseball, golf, tennis, and bowling are really fun, and I love the idea of the controller with motion control.

3. I like boxing
although I will admit the controller is a bit unresponsive on thrust motions sometimes, and I know there were a few times the controller did not register my punches. Hopefully they will get this fixed for the day when we can see a Wii version of Punch Out.

Baseball is really simplistic, but then again Wii Sports is basically a tech demo and not a real game. Of course it is probably the funnest tech demo ever made, and it will provide many hours of enjoyment despite its simplicity.

Tennis is my personal favorite, followed by bowling and golf. I usually don't get into sports games but after playing Wii Sports I am really looking forward to seeing some of the future golf and tennis titles which are sure to hit the system in the near future.

4. I LOVE tennis on Wii Sports. And I understand what you are saying, its all demo
I can't wait until some sophisticated baseball and golf games come out.

Right now, I love everything about the golf game, except for the fact that you can't change clubs (save for the four clubs, which are driver, iron, wedge, and putter). When they get a golf game that actually has 1,3,5, and 7 wood, 3-9 iron, pitching and sand wedge... Then its gonna be really a blast

6. Hell, if it supposed to be realistic..I would not WANT boxing to be responsive
or I might end up with a black eye, broken nose or dislocated jaw! Just sayin. :silly:

5. My son wants one for x-mas
but it isn't looking to hopeful - Why can't they just release them in high enough quantities. They don't make anymore money, it's the assholes of the world who buy them and turn around and sell them on e-bay that make the money.

7. Keep trying.
Nintendo is on track to ship 4 million units to the US before the end of the year. (They sold 600,000 in the first week)
They, unlike Sony, are trying to get as much as they can to the US before Christmas. (I'm a firm believer that Sony is deliberately witholding production of the
PlayStation 3 intentionally to drive up the frenzy. Also unlike Sony, Nintendo is actually making money on the sale of every Wii...and eBay sellers aren't selling them
for much markup, unlike the PS3)

So keep trying. That's all I can say, and I hope you're successful. But talk to the people at the stores in the video games department and try to find out
when they're getting new console shipments in.

On release day, I only had to get to the store (Best Buy) about 45 minutes before they handed out tickets to guarantee a Wii.
I can't imagine that it's any worse now. (although now that word's gotten out about the uniqueness of it, it's become a popular system)

I hope you're successful, because your son will love it. And you might think it's fun, too.

11. Our best buy had a 'riot'
they had about 1000 people show up, our city and surrounding areas population is around 100,000. But we have the only best buy for the northern section of Wisconsin.

It wasn't just the wii but they had "deals" like $300 laptops which they promised they'd have at least 4 of them.

9. Actually, Nintendo is actually delivering on its promises this time around...
They are making enough of them, to just barely meet demand, its just that demand is outrageous right now. Its freakin' insane. They are the only ones, this time around, who actually pulled off an excellent launch, but, its really hard to find right now. I figure the worst case scenario is that I'll have to wait till January.

8. Dammit, I want one, hard as hell to find...
Edited on Fri Dec-08-06 04:47 PM by Solon
I know Nintendo is making Millions of them, but they seem to get sold the DAY they are shipped, which freakin' sucks when you try to buy the damned thing. I heard that Target gets them every Sunday night, and they are on shelves on Monday, so I'll have to check this coming Monday, and see if they have any. I called Circuit City around here, both of them, and they have a fucking WAITING LIST for the thing, and its LONG, so I'm forgetting about them. I even considered Wal-Mart, but since its 24 hours, and I hate THEM, trying to get the system there is just insane.

I'm avoiding places like Gamestop like the plague, I do NOT need a fucking 600 dollar bundle, just the core system for now, with Wii sports, and I'm getting a 20 dollar Virtual Console points card as well. That's all the money I have right now, after Monday, I'm getting paid again, and I'm getting Zelda, definitely, played every Zelda before this one, and I'm not going to miss out.

ON EDIT: I figure I'll pass the time trying to beat the Original Legend of Zelda, haven't played that game since I was 10 years old, good memories, loved beating it! I never did beat the Second Quest, I'm going to have a go at it, there most of the week going away right there.

10. I think you might be able to save tax if you buy the points directly off the console.
They use 182 bit encryption, but if online purchasing is not your thing, then you should get a card from the store.
Best Buy sells the 2000 point cards for $22.99. It's $20.00 when you buy it through the Wii.

Good luck!

I love it, I even sold my 360 for it (it was just collecting dust anyway).

I can't say enough good things about this system. I'll have to say up front I'm a Nintendo fan boy so it could just be that seeping though. Wii sports is a lot of fun, but Zelda has been taking most of my time. In fact I just finished it last night, and it has to be one of the best game I have every played.

I can't wait for Wario Ware and the new Mario, things are looking up for Nintendo.

13. I don't have a Wii, I did consider it because I didn't want to wait
another month for Zelda on the GC. But...I had to replace the motherboard on my laptop because of overenthusiastic gameplay so I'm sure I'd be one of those people throwing the Wii remote through the TV :-)

A question for you on Zelda - I'm only at the first temple but so far this game is easier than any other Zelda game - without spoiling me - would you agree or no?

14. It is not really difficult, but there are some tough parts
And some of the puzzles can be quite tricky. I won't tell you much except to say there are some insane bosses. This probably ranks somewhere near the difficulty of Ocarina of Time, maybe slightly easier. It is no doubt a LOT bigger and more time consuming than any previous Zelda game.

While it will by no means be the toughest game you ever played, it is tougher than most games out there today. I generally beat games pretty quick, but this one has had me going at it for a while. I still have not beat it, although I am quite far.

15. The only game I've ever played is Zelda, so I don't have anything
else to compare it to. As I mentioned I'm just at the very beginning and there seems to be a lot of leading (especially by the monkeys in the Forest Temple). Anyway I'm stuck right now so maybe it's not as easy as I initially thought.

Thanks.

16. How do you put spin on the tennis ball?
I can't figure it out....but I know it's possible because sometimes I do it by accident.
