S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Gamers, I just played it last night. This has been worth waiting 4 years to play!

It's a FPS in a sandbox environment. Amazing control and AI. Guys and gals! Get this game!

2. F6 is the quicksave and F7 the quickload
I've been using them pretty much constantly. Challenging. I like that.

6. If you've ever lived in Eastern Europe you know damn well that no nuclear fallout is needed
to make street dogs dangerous. I've been snapped snarled and growled at.

5. Glad I'm not alone!
Challenging long term games are what make gaming worth it! Give me a long life brain burster over a colorful graphics explosion any day!

Granted it "could" look a little prettier, but hell the AI just had me sold.

I attacked a group of 6 bandits at night (they had their headlights on and I didn't...damn that helped). None-the-less it took me 5 saves to get it right without dying. I had to throw a grenade (I almost never grenade in FPSs!) and then get the others while they were stunned.

Their reactions were eerily lifelike!

and can't get away from the game! The graphics are fabulous,IMO,for the ambiance and not the flash .
Gotta keep a good balance of what you carry between food, ammo and equipment also.
Same here with the nades and an RPG was indispensable on one occasion.
Damn thankful for F6 in this game!

on edit
Just wanted to say that this $40.00 game beats hell outta most $50.00 and $60.00 ones I've bought!

8. I amazed by the reactions of the human enemies versus the 'wildlife'
I throw a grenade at a bunch of dogs eating a corpse (by the bar to the north of "The Garbage") and they scatter like crazy. I think I've scared them off but they all come running back once I try to make a break for the town. Crazy "Mutantskiye Cobaki"!

Once complaint I've heard is that there are no subtitles to the Russian... Trust me you don't need to know what the guys are saying or can get a gist from the cognates they use. I speak Russian and they are not giving away much infomation...they are using alot of slang and cussing like sailors though.

The guys chit-chatting area talking about radiation, mutants, and zombies are bs-ing about just that. When one guy mentions a "Muskalnaya Pa-u-sa" and whips out a guitaur...well "Musical Pause" is one of those cognates I was talking about.

The threats in Russian from the bandits are pretty slangy and vulgar. When they die they tend to say things along the lines of "Mother F***er..." or "Goddamn...".

The Soldiers use Russian Military lingo and in one creepily human moment I heard one mutter "help me mama..." as died. Another soldier wounded called to his "Brothers" to save him.

9. speaking of grenades,
the zombies aren't quite brain dead. Toss a nade into a group of 'em and they scatter before it blows.
Yep, the lingo is pretty much the same in any mans army. I have no problems getting the gist of what is being said. I think the groups sitting around shootin' the shit with the guitars is a nice touch. Reminds me of the ARVN's doing the same in Nam.

13. Haven't seen the zombies yet
Um, doesn't having 'smart' zombies kind adefeat the purpose of having zombies?

I can't wait until I encounter the 'Snorks' or 'Dwarves'.

15. Carry a lot of ammo
when meeting up with Snorks cause there pretty tough. Took me 4 tries, an RPG and a couple mags to get thru 2 of 'em the first time I encountered them.

10. Man this game just PWNES my computer.
Edited on Fri Mar-30-07 08:44 AM by gatorboy
I don't get it. I've got a 3.4 GHZ machine. Gig of ram, 250 gig hard drive space and my card's a 7800GTX and still this game plays like it's taking it's dying breath. Choppy as hell!

11. A complete resource hog
Mine pauses occasionally with 2 gigs of ram, Radeon X1650PRO (512MB), and a slighly slower proc.

Other than that it rocks the box.

12. Time to upgrade to the Athlon 64 X2 I guess.
Otherwise, I can probably forget Crysis.

14. Must be something else goin' on
with your machine. I have an Athlon 4000+ 2.4 gig, 2 gig DDR400 and a 6600 GT and the game runs smoothly, at medium vid settings, with only an occasional hiccup. The game looks and plays damn good with my lowly 6600 GT and with a 7800GTX you should be able to rock and roll.
