Wiiniuses ... What are you playing right now? |
|
I've been having a lot of fun making my way through Super Paper Mario (after recently finished PM:Thousand Year Door). It's not the kind of thing I've ever played much of--I'm a PC gamer, rather than a console gamer--so I find it a bit of a fun and refreshing break from the hack 'n' slash of games like Oblivion and Guild Wars and the intensity of CoD or HL2. (Don't get me wrong--I love those games.)
I haven't bought anything for my Wii since before X-Mas. What are you playing now, and what new games are you really into? And don't forget the VC games, too!

4. I've played through the entire series |
|
Starting with Daggerfall and ending with Oblivion. I can't wait for Bethesda's treatment of Fallout.

I bought mine at a Target a couple of days after X-Mas 2006. I was returning a non-functional iPod and saw 4 Wiis on the shelf--after about 15 minutes of hemmning and hawing as I walked around the store, I went back and bought it. :)

6. I just finished The Simpsons... |
|
OK game - very short, though.
I'm also playing Super Paper Mario.
The one I really want to get, though, is Endless Ocean.

12. Endless Ocean looks great. |
|
And it's gotten good reviews too. I'm gonna snap that one up soon.

8. Never played any of those games |
|
Is it really that good? If so, why?
Most importantly, is it something my 5 year old and I could play together? He likes the Cars games and we play Mario Cart on the VC together.

9. Well, there's a bunch of Nintendo characters beating up on each other. |
|
So it's probably not appropriate for a 5 year old. No blood, of course, and all you're trying to do is knock them off of the stage.
At the end of the match, it shows the victor posing in triumph, and you can clearly see the other three applauding his victory in the background, so it shows good sportsmanship. But it's probably not for your 5 year old yet...it is rated "T" for Teen.
Although there are a plethora of Pokemon in the game...
The Smash Bros games are more an homage to Nintendo's vast library of games and their history than anything else. There's tons of collectables in the game, from statues of famous Nintendo icons to stickers (I don't understand that, either), but it is a punch-em kick-em fighting game.
Speaking of Mario Kart...the Wii version is coming out within a month or two...
And Super Mario Galaxy is fantastic, too.

10. I'll have to rent them then, when I get the chance |
|
He really likes Mario, but most of the Mario games are too hard for him. He likes to "play" Super Mario 64, which mainly involves making him climb the trees then handspring off the top. ;) He really wants to play Paper Mario and Super Paper Mario, but since he can't read well enough yet, or understand the controls, they're a no go.

If you have children of any age, I strongly recommend this game. Elebits is good also.
Took me awhile to finish Super Paper Mario and Super Mario Galaxy. Nintendo has really marketed the Mario brand well over the years.

13. Thanks for the recommendation |

My son does enjoy Elebits as well. Trashing the rooms in the house and finding those sneaky little creatures gives him a good case of the giggles. :) I've recommended to several of my adult friends as a good non-violent FPS.

14. It's a very unique game |
|
And takes advantage of the Wii's remote very well, I think. I also like the way you can interact with your environment, ala Half-Life 2, but even more realistically.

15. Mario & Sonic at the Olympics, but we are waiting for Mario Kart |
|
to come out on the 27th!
We finally got a Wii when Super Smash Bros was released :)
We have a tight budget, so we have been putting money away for it for a long time. It is impossible to find them around here. They had 7 of them down in Portland, by the time we got down there only 3 were left and we got one. My husband looked like a kid on Christmas morning. My little boys love playing the sport games and Sonic, Mario Galaxy, Raving Rabbids, and of course Mario Kart. We are really looking forward to Mario Kart for Wii. I am looking forward to Wii Fit that comes out right before my birthday. I was never into video games, but my kids liked computer games and I would rather them move a little bit than sit in front of something just clicking. It is also something that we all have fun doing together. It's funny to see the little boys golfing in the living room :)
