This is really odd, I'm not sure what to make of it. Apparently, SyFy is working with Trion (never heard of them before) to develope an MMO that is going to work in conjunction with a new TV series they are developing.
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6214302.htmlIt also seems to be PS3 exclusive... uggh, where to begin. OK, I'm not very big on MMO's, I just have a problem paying for a game and then having to pay a monthly fee to continue playing. Then, god forbid the game does not do well, your screwed and can never again play the game. Then come the expansions you have to buy... What is that fee for again? Throw in micro-transactions... Bleh, maybe I'm just too cheep... and poor :D Now... I might be tempted by a game made by a company like Blizzard but even then, I'm not going to join WoW now because I really don't feel like playing catch-up to everyone that has been playing since the beginning, I personally need to get in at the start. A company like Trion though? Not to put them down but... who are they? Plus it is in conjunction with a TV show... from SyFy... I'm just not seeing any long term playability here, especially since I don't get SyFy and probably won't any time soon.
It is an interesting idea that has some potential but I'm having a little trouble with the partners involved.
