that Nintendo would try some serious games now and then. Non-cartoony. But hey, they're raking it in, so it must be working

who has a Wii, says that Wii and DS gamers are the new gamers, and people like us, who play for hours at a time, are a shrinking minority, a niche market. I reminded him that a FPS took in more than Avatar a year or so ago, but blah blah blah.
DS sales are insanely high. I can't figure out how to work the damn thing. From a hardware perspective, the PSP is much better. The new 3DS is suppose to have a joystick like thing on it that will make it easier to work, and I may well get one, as I really like the Professor Layton puzzle games.
I'll never have a Wii, as I'm disabled and can't stand for very long (or do a lot arm waving, for that matter). I'm trying to figure out how to set up my laptop to play the new Starcraft, if the video card can handle it. I'm getting into Shogun: Total War again, and having a bit more success this time. Still haven't won a battle outnumbered, but I'm able to take on even numbers and win now. And I won my first bridge battle with cavalry.

though I long ago lost all interest in hand-helds. But Wii? It's a neat niche gaming system, and is definitely innovative. But it is EXTREMELY limited in its capabilities. If the Wii is truly the future, then the gaming industry is doomed

XBox and PS3 combined. The Wii is the future, just like Farmville is the future of online gaming. We'll still have a place in the future, though.
But Wii users are the kind who play family games, and will always buy the new Mario Party when it comes out, and stuff like that. They don't make blog posts about pixel counts and resolution, either.
We're the niche, not them. That's why Kinect and Move got such a big push recently. Microsoft and Sony are trying to catch up to the Wii. I can see the Move doing it, if they market it properly. It's got to be an add on to a family that already has a PS3 for the hard core gamer, and this will enable the whole family to use it. But I can't see someone shelling out the money for a PS3 and a Move, when they can just get a Wii at half the price.

I think the Kinect and Move are complete wastes of money, but I'm not their target audience, so my opinion doesn't really matter for that.
But you have a great point; hardcore gamers may or may not buy one. How may people will buy the main console as well as the peripheral for 3-400 bucks, rather than buy a Wii for 150?
Yeah, you would have the ability to play conventional console games, as well as motion games, but that's a lot of cash to shell out if you're a casual gamer.
Maybe they need a smaller console version, with a smaller hard drive/graphics, that could be cheaper. With the motion peripherals, that might entice casual gamers

that the XBox doesn't: BluRay. If you look at it as an entertainment device for the living room, it's a lot more reasonably priced. Once the Netflix function is automatic (sometime soon, supposedly), that makes it even more enticing.
I know I use my PS3 half the time to watch video I've downloaded onto my 1 terabyte network hard drive.
I do agree that Move/Kinect are wastes of time and money. Work instead on being able to hook up a mouse and keyboard to my PS3 so I can smoke some FPSers.

you keyboarder freaks...
I love my 360. I HATE HATE HATE Playstation controllers. They don't fit my hands in any way. I get cramped up after 10-15 minutes. Plus... well I don't know. It's what I started with lol, so now I'm stuck with it...

I love the new PS3 controller, it fits perfectly, like it was made for my hand.
I am a keyboard freak, I admit it. Give me a mouse and a keyboard, and I'll frag all day long.
