| Console gamers: How can you play shooter games like GTA after |
|
you've used the mouse for shooters on a PC? I can't stand it, and as much as I love GTA no way could I play GTA:SA without waiting for the PC port.

I'd much rather be able to use a keyboard and mouse on my Xbox. If only there was a way.

| 2. the same reason i can't understand pc gamers and shooters. |
|
i don't understand how you use keyboard and mouse for shooting games instead of joysticks. so much easier to use a joystick, preferrably double joysticks.
been playing shooting games faaaar longer before kb/m became the standard and never got into FPS games. i still have no clue how you dig kb/m over controllers for games.
i can adjust, but give me a controller anyday over a kb/m. if mapped right (critical) faster hotkeys and intuitive controls makes me far more comfortable (and faster) with controllers than kb/m. but the communities habits are hard to break, they'll stick with kb/m for everything if they can, not just FPS and RTS games (ugh, some like kb/m for platformers!!! heresy!)

I want the kb/m for FPS and RTS, but desperately need the controller for platformers.
My 5 button scroll mouse makes FPS games a snap. Scroll up and down to select weapons, I've got five options with one hand, and many more with the other. Can't imagine doing FPS any other way.
RTS? You need the quick scrolling capacity of a mouse, IMO. Plus hotkeys (I'll use 15-20 keys for most RTS games, more than any controller I've ever seen).

| 4. oooh! a 5 button mouse! k, that's good. |
|
that's just a trackball with more buttons :D cool, that i can deal with. that'd be very useful.
but i can't stand RTS in general. they always seem hindering. i *know* i can outthink the AI but the controls are such a pain to do things quickly. and the AIs are bloody cheap. if there was a way to use a palette/stylus with multiple stylii. give me two stylii and i'll go buckwild on those RTS games. perhaps if apple gets their heads together they can make a stylus based RTS.

no ball at all. I desperately need it, as I have arthritis and can't do too much mouse moving. I set the sensitivity pretty high, and I don't have to move very much to get good reactions.
Works on a Mac, too, iirc. Microsoft IntelliEye, I think it's called.

| 11. There's a very specific reason why we use it |
|
We use it for fast turns- 90 degrees or more. That, and I find there's a much finer level of control possible with the KBD/mouse combination. But, to each his own.
I don't think you'll find dual analog stick pads at QuakeCon, though. Or many LAN parties. :D

Nothing beats a mouse and a keyboard, but what can you do?

| 7. There's a device for the XBox and PS2 |
|
This device allows XBox and PS2 users to plug in a mouse and keyboard for gaming (especially FPS).

| 9. But on the PC you can turn off auto-aim. I guess you might need the auto |
|
aim on the console. Are all the shooters like Halo etc. auto aim on consoles?

| 12. Actually Halo is a little bit. |

If your reticle remains sufficiently close to a target, it centers on the target automatically. Sometimes helpful, sometimes annoying.
