REMINDER ALERT: Ask your Members to Cosponsor the Community Choice Act!!
The Senate Finance Committee has recently scheduled a hearing on the Community Choice Act for September 25, 2007. Between now and then, let's make a rumble in both the House and the Senate to drum up some new co-sponsors for the legislation!
Under Medicaid, every state must provide nursing home services, but community-based services remain optional. The Community Choice Act is about real choice It seeks to put highly personal choices back into the hands of the individuals directly affected by giving equal access to community-based supports for those eligible for nursing home and ICF-MR services. It also enhances federal matching funds to help states offer greater flexibility in delivering services and supports the way citizens want them. Rather than inventing a new entitlement, the Community Choice Act makes the existing one more flexible.
WHAT: Contact your Senators and Representatives and urge them to cosponsor the Community Choice Act (S.799, H.R. 1621).
HOW: Visit www.senate.gov and www.house.gov to determine your Members of Congress.
AFTER YOU ACT: We encourage you to let us know if you've reached out to any of your Members' offices with this message. That way, we can come behind and do some more encouraging in specific offices.
