| sometimes it makes me crazy to send my kids to school |

blech. it is so aggravating to watch the "professional" teachers do a half-assed job. my 7th grader's class is hatching chicken eggs. we were discussing them this morning. turns out not only do they not have proper food for the chicks, they never even candled the eggs. (you hold a flashlight up to the egg, and you can see inside.) amazing. i know this is just my personality type- you know the old saying, if you want something done right, do it yourself. this is inscribed in my genes. it has caused me a mountain of work in my lifetime. i try to resist, but jesus. :banghead:

I'd drive his teachers nuts because I'm the same way.

| 2. My parents generally knew more than the teachers when I was in school |

A pretty small percentage of the teachers were really awful. A few were fantastic. Most were pretty average.
With the curriculum restricted to the latest standardized tests and the teacher/student ratio approximately 1/30, the only way public schoolchildren are going to learn to love learning is if parents like you instill that sense of wonder in their hearts.
Your kids are so lucky to have you! :-)
