slamming homeschoolers!
We may not hs anymore, and we're not in a charter anymore, but I'm still 1000% behind alternative forms of education. Whatever works for the kid is what is needed.
I think it's really important for people to know who we really are. We're not all fundies nor rw nor stupid nor sitting at home "playing school" in a dark basement beating our kids into submission and having them memorize dogma. HS'ing is so liberating on so many levels!
Thanks!

2. People get a notion of what homeschooling is |
|
based on their impression of some TV show or some fundy whack job.
I have a feeling though, with the textbook mess in Texas, there are going to be a lot more liberals turning to homeschool programs for their kids. I really appreciate being able to modify the curriculum so my kid has a better understanding of things like the Civil Rights movement and the Iraq War. Most of the textbook versions I've seen neglect to emphasize that people died so black Americans could have the same rights as anybody else. And while they explain that the US "liberated" Iraq from Saddam Hussein when we invaded, it says nothing about the fact that the invasion was based on false information, and was really an illegal operation.
