| 1. I know Cinemark and Muvico are very red. |
|
Try looking at independents like Angelika or any locally owned ones if you're in a small town.
I haven't been able to do as much research on these guys yet as I've wanted, and Sapphie's on vacation with FC for the holiday. I'll try to do more when she gets back.
Alternately, do Netflix! They're blue. FSC

| 2. I only have a AMC near me. |
|
They are not part of the 2 you mentioned to my knowledge. Usually going to a movie is a last minute decision for me and I usually stay local as I hate driving. But I would travel a bit to avoid giving to a republican.

Going to see movies is a very spur of the moment thing for us. Fortunately, I have a dinner/movie combo where reprehensor can have a beer if I want to see a chick flick, so it works out well.
I'll try to add AMC to the list quickly when Sapphie gets back for when the mood strikes! FSC

| 7. Cinemark has a monopoly in my area. |
|
They have several theaters in the area, and there is literally no other choice unless you drive to the other side of the mountains.
They don't show many films locally; one that I did want to see recently, which didn't make it to my area, was The Motorcycle Diaries.
I don't see a lot of movies anyway; 3 or 4 a year, and those aren't essential.

| 5. Not much at open secrets about exhibitors |
|
...but I found...
Cinemark USA. $121,916 in 2004 Dems 3% Reps 97%
Number 10 on the "Movie Production" list, with Time Warner being #1. the rest were production/studio companies. Other exhibitors were below the top 20.
No records for American Multi Cinema (AMC), Regal Entertainment/United Artists, Mann, Dickinson Theaters, Loews, Cineplex Odeon, Landmark Theaters, and I don't know any more, othr than small regional exhibitors.
Sony owns Loews Cineplex and as an entertainment/manufacturing conglomerate, they gave... $416,718 in 2004 69% Dem 31% Rep
