I just thought this up.
I'm going to go to a store, get a shopping cart, pile it high with stuff, take it to the checkout, let them run it all through, then be "surprised and disappointed" that I left my wallet at home.
I may go to several stores.

You create more work for an employee and cost the store money. If you look and dress really ratty when you do it the store detectives will follow you around the whole time, too.
Interesting concept.;-)

more work for the employee, but they get paid the same regardless, so it doens't actually 'hurt' them, except for exasperation to whatever degree they feel that, having rung up a ton of crap, and then having to void it all out, etc.
