what do you all know about Victoria's Secret and their politics ? should i boycott it ? i admit it's one of the few places where i enjoy the stuff in addition to it being that is needed. but if there are problems with how they do their business i can easily give it up.
also, please give alternative places to shop if you can.

| 1. I think it's still owned by Les Wexner |
|
a major GOP contributor. :-(
I don't know about Fredericks of Hollywood; their shops are as tacky as can be, but the constuction of their undergarments is far superior to those at VS. If it last three times as long, it's worth the time spent in their awful shops!

I once bought a bra from Frederick's and that baby lasted for three years, and it held me better than any bra I ever bought from VS.
I wept when I finally laid it to rest.

| 2. I was OK with VS until they launched the "What is Sexy?" Ads |
|
I don't much go for these kinds of constructs -- lingerie, powdering, shaving -- for the plebs, IMHO -- but I realize that the sheepsters have to do something to spice up their boring lives, and purty-colored underwear apparently does it for some people.
Of course, it's objectification, and all that stuff that I just don't make a part of my universe -- BUT I seriously didn't feel the need to put them on my "big time piss off" list -- until they asked the question "What is Sexy?" and proceeded to fucking tell me, like they're the A-1 motherfucking authority on the matter. This was three years ago, when I was still watching TV -- so I don't know if it's still their slogan, but it made me want to puke.
I hope that myself, and every other human can figure out "what is sexy" without the guidance of a profit-driven underwear chain.

| 3. Does the fact that Bob Dylan was in their ads help them? |
|
Or was he in their commercials because he's changed his views?

| 4. Yep, any of the Wexner stuff is bad. |
|
Not just VS, but The Limited, Express, Structure, Bath and Body Works, and White Barn Candle Company.
Major GOP.
If you don;t like going IN Fredericks, they still have the catalog.
Here in Dallas, we have some small places where you can get lingerie. Many of them cater to strippers, but market themselves as "playwear." There are also a few that cater to new brides setting up trousseaus and needing bustiers for under their gowns, etc. (The Maddox Shoppe is one)
You should just be able to do a google search for your area, and "lingerie" and see what comes up. It's almost always better to buy small and local than large and corporate.

| 6. Unfortunately, the only place I shop is Lane Bryant... |
|
It's also owned by him. I can't find jeans to fit anywhere else. Sometimes we do these things out of necessity, unfortunately. Duckie

and I forgot about Lane Bryant.
Fortunately, I've joined a weight loss center, have started working out, and am planning on changing that very soon.
Don't want to have to give my money to that fucker.

| 9. Wexner really is a jerk. He owns tons of land outside Columbus, OH |
|
which he is uglifying with enormous tacky developments as fast as he can. I would bet that he has close connections to Ohio's governor and the whole Taft family, which of course are linked to the crooked secretary of state who threw the election to chimp.
Can you tell that I really, really dislike Wexner?

They broke my heart by discontinuing the "captivator" bra at Fredericks...better than a boob lift! Loved those bras & they were cheap too. None of the new ones are as good although all of them are better than VS.
VS stuff is shit...pretty but it doesn't last, loses shape & comes apart after a few washes.
My daughter likes the underwear at americanapparel.com.
But I am more the old school lacy type, but Fredericks sexy stuff is so awful, uncomfortable and hooker-ish! The stuff at Saks is nice and sometimes they have good sales -- that's a BLUE store! Of course I don't get as good a deal as Wynonna Ryder. ha!
Incidentally, in 2007 it will be the centennial anniversary for my daughter's all-girl high school and they are planning a big celebration, and in charge of one of the committees is none other than allum Tyra Banks. According to the nun I talked to she was a real good student, in honors and a real good girl type, a teachers pet and still a booster for the school.
I guess there's a lesson for our girls -- if you ace that honors biology, you can get a great job posing in underwear! Or something... LOL!
