Okay Guys.Maybe I should stop posting. It is getting irrational out there. I don't want to be |
|
hurting the cause.Should I just give it up? I can't deal the the nastiness of former DU friends calling me a Kennedy basher as well as othe names for stating that a Kennedy Primary endorsement could be used "against" any candidate in the GE. I just don't think I have the stomach for a lot of this anymore.I love you guys . Should I just STFU?

You guys are doing just great and don't ever doubt that.
The people arguing with you are not trying to win any arguments or persuade anyone, they are trying to get you angry or discouraged. They make a big mess, get everyone upset, and they "win." They can't really win. They know that. So they try to get you to quit.
You guys are winning every round, fighting the good fight, and I promise you that you will prevail in the end. Don't forget that we have your back, so if you are getting beat up out there you are not alone. Call on us, lean on us. Don't forget either that your are the voice for those millions who have no voice, and that the well-being and survival of millions of people is what is at stake here, and that is what is important.

We still outnumber the Obama people and they have been loud jerks.
Be nice. Be positive.
AND DON'T POST IN ALL CAPS LIKE A CERTAIN SERIAL EDWARDS HATER.
Edwards threads get voted up because this is Edwards Underground!

The nastiness astounds me at times. But on a bright note: I attended an Edwards rally this morning and a friend who was an Obama supporter told me that she voted for Edwards (we have early voting here prior to Feb. 5th) because of the nastiness between Obama and Clinton!

12. I think something is really going to blow up soon |
|
That little talk that Clinton and Edwards had, I think it was for her to find out whether or not Edwards was staying in the race, or if he was leaving. I think she found out that he was totally committed to staying in the race, no matter what. This was the reason for the robo calls. A cheap way to knock down his numbers.
If he was leaving then she could wait awhile, but if he was staying in, then the shit was going to hit the fan for Obama. I don't think we have heard the last of the Rezko thing, and there may even be something more coming. She is going to knock Obama out of the race, hard. Taking on 2 people is harder than taking on 1, and she knows that Obama is the easier target. Obama has had 2 very easy elections, and he hasn't any idea how rough it's going to get.
And, I think that the Clintons are really pissed at the endorsements that Obama has gotten, it's going to be a bumpy ride. Someone is going to pay!

Zalinda, what is this little talk that Clinton and Edwards had? I didn't hear about this. when was it?
I also have a feeling something is going to blow up soon. The more I read about the Rezko situation, the worse it seems. I hope it all comes out now. It would be a horrible situation if Obama got the nomination and then all this stuff came out when it was too late for us to do anything about it.
As hard as things have been, I still think it is possible that Clinton and Obama will knock each other out with all their dirty tactics, and there will be John, just as clean, honest, straightforward and smart as ever! There is another debate Thursday night and I hope it is like the last one. John's performance in that debate was so far superior to the other two. I think that debate was the major reason for John's surge in SC. We just need more of that.

21. Clinton came to see John after the SC debate |
|
they talked behind closed doors for about 10 minutes. I think that he told her he was staying in until the convention. Robo calling is cheap and easy, so she had that set up to knock him down a few delegates. I don't think there is much on John and I don't think Obama is clean. He has this arrogance about him, which is what I think turned me off to him in the first place. He reminds me so much of those TV preachers, that I can't shake it. I'm not sure I could ever vote for him.

So, I take it that it was just the two of them talking with no one else there and nothing has got out to verify what the discussion was about? I bet you are right, but I just wonder what the tone was and how she broached it. The fact he is staying in just proves all the more that he really cares about the American people.

23. I just re-read your earlier post |
|
So, you are saying that she will knock Obama out because that is easier than knocking Edwards out. Then she thinks it will be easier to run against Edwards alone than to run against Obama and Edwards. It may be, but I think that would benefit Edwards more than her. We know that lots of Obama voters are really ABC voters. And I'm sure you are right, there is much more dirt on Obama than Edwards. That must be the case because a) all the stuff that has already come out on Obama and b) Edwards has already been through all this in '04. I hope this happens.

24. Obama has never been in a real campaign before |
|
He had very weak opponents against him on his other runs. For pete's sake, they ran Alan Keyes against him for the US Senate seat. He's had it very easy. And, look how he whines when things get a little tough. He's the prep school kid who has had everything handed to him on a silver platter. He will be the easier of the two to knock out. I'll be surprised if he makes it to the convention.
John probably told her he has absolutely no intention of dropping out no matter what. That would mean she would have to turn her attention onto Obama. Some of his supporters are all tied up into the flavor of the month, and she knows that. Many people who are for Obama, may never even go to the polls to vote, and she knows that. She has a rock solid core of older people who like her, and do vote, and she knows that.
The Clintons, if nothing else, are good politicians. They do know how to win and fight the good fight, even if it gets in the dirt. In all the years they have been in politics, they have only lost one election, and they don't intend to have that happen again.

Your posts are great. I K & R them every time I see them. You are right that a Kennedy endorsement could be used against a candidate in the GE. There are plenty of Rs who think of Ted Kennedy only in terms of scandal - Chappaquidick, William Kennedy Smith, and so on. Both of my late parents had a visceral hate of Ted Kennedy.
Just remember to take care of yourself, too. Take a break if you need to.

I like what you have to say, and so do a lot of people.
I don't think you are hurting the cause, saracat.
You can't help the way people respond. It's too bad so many people want to be nasty, but the way I look at it, it says a lot more about them than it does about you or JRE.

20. Some people on DU can be really nasty, no doubt. |
|
And I can't blame you for getting your feelings hurt somewhat by what others have said to you.
I'm glad, though, that you are going to keep posting.
The thing that I think that the nasty people don't realize is, if Clinton or Obama gets the nomination, how many people are going to say, okay, I'm with your candidate now? They would probably piss on that too.
I get being passionate about your choice of candidate; we are passionate about JRE. I don't get it, though, when some people think it's just fine and dandy to just smack the crap out of others who might not agree with them.

Back in 2005, when I first joined DU, and started upping the amount of calls to my congress critters, signing petitions, going to anti-war marches, etc., MrSG got a little nervous (he knows about Agent Mike), and said he was a bit afraid that something would happen to me because I was speaking up. I said, "As far as I know, the First Amendment IS still part of the Bill of Rights, despite the best -- or worst -- efforts of the Bush Administration. Therefore, I will continue to speak out."
Now, he says, about things political, "I don't need Wikipedia. I have SeattleGirlpedia." And he's also told me, when I've been down and feeling hopeless, and wanting to move to another country, he says, "No you won't. You have too much fight in you to do that."
Funny things happen when we speak out, don't they?
