I believe a man who has climbed mt. Kilimanjaro can live anywhere |
|
he damn well pleases.
And in any dwelling he damn well pleases.
With an inspiring, accomplished wife, a dazzling young adult daughter, and two durn cute younguns.
Hey you John Edwards people. Don't take any crap from anybody on this house bullshit. Stand by your guy.
He deserves support in this scurrilous attack.
He earned the money; he and Elizabeth know what they're doing; those kids will be loved and protected.
He's a good man.

2. MATTMAN! There you are. Thank you for that welcome. |
|
Very nice to see you, too. I hope things are well your way.
The Edwards-bashing threads have proliferated, sorry to say.
But they have strengthened my awareness of his considerable virtues.
I think he's going to whip Hillary Clinton in Iowa and Nevada both a year from now.

If it was not for Edward's money the UNC center of poverty would not have been established.

I think Edwards is en route to a very persuasive contention for the top job.
And what a staggering improvement he would make over the current incumbent.

5. I think we should democrats to a higher standard. |
|
we just came back from a sweeping win of the house and the seneate I would think we should be concerned about about defeating the republicans instead of someones house. I remeber a debate where a moderator brought up a question about Edward's wealth and DK came in and defended Edwards.

6. I love it. I think Edwards and Kucinich have quite a bit more in |

common than meets the eye.
I'm at home with either of them.
Agree with you completely on points of emphasis. We just won in 06 and 08 is looming. We need to stick together and make the most of our chances.

You should still be celebrating that Webb win over Macacahead in Virginia. What a glorious outcome.

I'll be a happy roadie!
Oh, I'm warm  Even though Ft Lauderdale dipped into the 40's (and they almost delayed school openings!), it's still about 20 degrees warmer than up in Virginny :)
Again, thanks for popping in with your charming company with the JRE Supporters. Please visit often

I'm not the most ardent NFL fan who ever walked down the street, but I try to stay a little current just to have a conversation with fellow citizens.
I like the Bears because they play in an open field instead of an artificial dome.
Watching football on tv when it's snowing is a pleasure. So it's the Bears for me this Sunday.

14. I have not decided who I am going to pull for |

mainly because Mushin Mohammad dumped my favorite team the Carolina Panthers. I don't like pulling for the Colts because they are not a team I like to watch.

The Panthers couldn't afford to keep him, and still have money left for Smitty, Peppers, Delhomme, and Morgan. There is a going market price for players like him; both he and the Panthers knew it.

15. A Thought About His House |
|
I remember reading something during the 2004 campaign, where the meida was talking about how hard things were on Edwards' neighbors. You know, he lived in a nice suburb and with all the staffers and press and Secret Service, it was a real hassle for other people living there - streets blocked, cars everywhere, etc.
So now, he buys a remote house (maybe a little presumptuous, but you certainly don't want to be doing it when the campaign is really underway) and people want to criticize him for not being environmentally friendly.
Now, defend his decision to environmentalists in a 10 second soundbite...

16. If his detractors want to knock this house they have to knock |
|
their candidates' houses, and their own. All buildings leave a carbon footprint, although the Edwards' house is more environmentally-friendly in function (when it's completed) than most.
All human activity creates waste. Collectively, we can do a lot more to reduce the damage we do but it's not a weekend project.
The attacks on John and Elizabeth Edwards on these boards and at other sites are cheap shots, designed to somehow lessen their appeal to voters and promote the detractors' own candidates.
Their effort has backfired.
Edwards is our next president.

Here's the 10 second soundbite, direct from Elizabeth
The house is Energy Star rated, meaning it is 30% more efficient than the EPA's National Model Energy Code
They use well water, which is solar heated. They take advantage of solar energy for some of their other heating needs.
They use fluorescent lighting, which is more energy efficient than incandescent.
They drive a hybrid.
It was been bugging me, more because I got tired of hearing the Edwardses attacked over this and was concerned about an area of vulnerability for him. So, I went to his site and was reading some of the diaries - Elizabeth wrote about it back in January.

18. Good post. Many of the people slinging crap at the Edwardses |
|
likely didn't bother to read that post by Elizabeth Edwards on the house.
I think it's not the dwelling but how one lives in it that matters, and on that count, I think John and Elizabeth Edwards are doing just fine.
